I had ABC on while working out and a show came on (can't remember the name), but it was a Pawn Stars spin off for sports cards. Dan showed up with a nice cardboard box full of stuff and sold a Jackie Robinson doll. The guys working the store obviously watched Pawn Stars because they acted just like them.

Pretty cool seeing a fellow collector on National TV.

I've often wondered why there isn't more about card collectors on "Antique Roadshow" or "Pawn Stars" or any of those 'useful old junk' shows. I think baseball card geeks like us are fodder for an interesting series all by ourselves. You have the top-level interest points like big dollar amounts and high-profile cards (e.g., the T206 Wagner card, Ruth, Mantle, etc.), and you also have the detail-level interest points, like significant figures in the hobby, particular years and/or brands, and/or the whole ebay community/phenomenon. And you can include other sports, as well. There are endless possibilities.

We have dramatic worth, dammit! What we do is interesting, potentially to people beyond us. Don't let anyone tell ya different.

ARS does not highlight people that know what they have. If you go to one of their stops and start talking about your item and sounding knowledgeable, you are pretty much guaranteed not to get on air. They want people that have a good backstory to their item but are not real knowledgeable about it so that they can get TV worthy reactions when they are told what their item is worth.

Who the **** is Dan Mckee?

Yea the show I was on is similar to Pawn Stars, it is all staged just like Pawn Stars.

It was a real experience to say the least

9 hours the first day of filming and they didn't even buy us lunch, ugh!

I filmed 6 episodes, 4 as the registered expert, 1 where my wife and I got in an argument cause she was forcing me to sell my Jim Brown Aurora model, and 1 as a stooge selling the Jackie Robinson Doll.

Of course you know which is the only episode of me that they used.... Dan the stooge!
