8. 1954 Bowman Ted Williams - Money be damned, I will have this one eventually.

1. 1914 or 1915 Cracker Jack Joe Jackson - but not just an A. Although, given that the card you see above is currently sitting on ebay for the nifty sum of $25K, an A will be just fine if someone wants to give me one!

How do you get and authentic grade and a note "unaltered"?

If I recall, SGC objected to that card because it was too thin for the required size and therefore gave it an A even though they could find nothing wrong with it. I think Heritage sold it and it went for like 10k, but I can't totally remember. Question is, why doesn't the owner crack and resubmit to PSA or BVG? Maybe it was rejected by them, too...

CJs are already just about the thinnest cards ever made. How in the world did they determine it was too thin?

I had meant too narrow, referring to the width, not the depth. Sorry for the confusion. It sold a while ago and I honestly can't remember much else about it or exactly what they were expressing in the auction description.

BTW: If we can go non-baseball, I'd like to add a highly graded 65T Namath RC to my list as a 10b. Right now I could probably swing a PSA 5 if it went a little low at auction. A PSA 8 or 9 or 10, however.... That definitely qualifies for this kind of list. Lord, I can't imagine what a 10 would go for.

And really, as I look back over my list now, I'm probably quite foolish to put the T206 Wagner (and the T206 Plank, as well, come to think of it) behind the Cracker Jack Jackson, cuz dollar-wise that's a mistake. However, in terms of the 'unwritten emotional swag' of baseball history, Jackson carries much more weight. And to harken back to the original query, we are theoretically not concerned with money here. So to heck with it; I stand by my list!

Couldn't agree more Jamie. A Google search resulted in this from the 2005 REA:



It sold from 12K and change then so I would imagine it would take a nice bump if sold today...especially with that clarity.

Yeah, my jaw dropped the first time I saw that card. Whoever owns it is very, very lucky.

Money may not be an object, but condition would be. Don't believe I've ever seen a Big Head Strip Card with a Numerical Grade. Yes, there are earlier Robinsons' but I like the look of those Leaf cards. Jimmy Claxton, duh!

just give me 10 of the Texas Tommy type 2's (including all the HOFers) and I'd be happy.

The Peck & Snyder Reds is iffy. Push comes to shove I'd probably take a Texas Tommy Jackson over the P&S.
