Are these modern creations...crossing the line?
I was just perusing FeeBay and I came across this modern creation...attractive, kinda neat like the helmar creations...but this one is kinda different. It depicts a known player from a set that looks very close to a real issue...is this crossing the line?

Yeah, this is pushing the line pretty hard. Knowledgeable collectors won't be fooled but someone new to the hobby probably would.

It says C. 2012 right on the back. I wouldn't spend 37 bucks on the thing, but I don't see how it is in any way deceptive.

This is sure a morbid card that may have crossed the line:

Horribly inappropriate!
What's next Helmars? The Thurman Munson/Roberto Clemente/Plane Wreckage Triple Folder? This card is beyond tasteless....

Re: Are these modern creations...crossing the line?
why are people paying $100+ for these cards? that's worse than me dropping $30 every year for a couple 1989 topps/donruss boxes. can't wait for the day when the original 1/1 card artworks are up for sale...1k, 3k?

I particularly like the part where it says, "This is a NEW product 'Hand-Made and randomly DISTRESSED.'" I'll give 'em this; they're admitting the item is not actually from that era, so anyone not reading carefully, well, I don't have a ton of sympathy. But I just love the notion of random distressing. That's right, folks: It's not vintage, but it is uniquely non-vintage. Lord.
And who are these hobby 'undergrounders?' Never heard that term before. What constitutes a trading card 'underground?' Sounds very subversive. We might wanna look into these people, and what they're trading.

I think the Helmar stuff is pretty cool, but some of the prices astound me. I particularly like the Boston Garter cards that they put out.
Thanks,
