What's wrong with t206s?

Those topics died a horrible death. What's up with that?

Except for the UZIT thread...I was being sarcastic about the others...trying to drum up discussion...whether relevant or not. It did not work! I'm trying to encourage discussion(not relating to hockey cards)...but it isn't working?!

i thought pete was mocking the t206 craze and wasn't serious.

either way t206s have never been hotter, the t206 youngs & lajoies have almost caught up in prices to the e93s...who would've believed that 6-7 years ago when e was 3x of ts.

Pete, we knew you poking fun. Just surprised that so few jumped in on the fun. Or maybe you've offended the multitudes of t206s collectors out there.

Just glad I got it out my system back in the 80s when I cringed at the thought of paying $8-10 for NM examples from Mark Macrae.

Back to the question..."What's wrong with T206's?"

Reason #1:

They're common as a fat chick on craig's list!

Reason #2:

Analysis Paralysis...people over-analyze the sh*t out of T206's...they're not the pyramids for crying out loud...everything about them wasn't thoughtfully planned out and executed...they were a free give away dammit!!!

imo those people are looking through $$$-colored glasses when they ask those questions, and they only become interested when they have the card. there are legit variations and printer's scraps, and other are just weird printing anomalies or an errant stone strike during printing. there are many examples of these in caramels also, especially the e97s...but they're so random that no one cares (like a comma instead of a period in "N.Y.") etc.

Every time I think about buying a T206, I just feel no impetus to actually pull the trigger because I know another one will be available soon. There are at least a thousand cards of every example except the well known rarities, which aren't actually that rare.

That leaves people to speculate on the value of the backs and the ultra high-grade PSA 9's and 10's. I played that game and won, so I can't complain, but I just feel like all the values are inflated compared to the cool 19th Century stuff you can buy for the same money.

What's wrong with T206's?

#3: Since T206 is a "gateway" drug for vintage cards...many who collect it are not so knowledgable which results in re-hashing of very common info over...and over...and over!

For those that haven't figured it out...I am quite irritable today!!!

pete---hang around t206resource.com more so next time you put up t206s they won't be plucked up by all the t206 vets within 5 minutes. aim for at least an hour so you can pretend like they're actually debating the prices instead of breaking their keyboards emailing you to buy.

Quan...I've never been a dickerer!!! But there is someone interested in most of my remaining T206 backs...maybe I should check out the T206 Resource!!!
