The "Every Individual" Approach to the T206 Set

I'm just getting into the T206 set, and the approach I've decided on is to collect every individual in the set; i.e., any person who is duplicated in the set, regardless of how many times, I'm only seeking one card featuring that person. The problem is that, from what I can find online, the set is rarely (if ever) checklisted this way, and I'm growing exasperated trying to reduce the list on my own. I've done it six times now, cross-walking it with baseball-reference.com and the gallery of the set at Virtual Card Collection, and four of the six times I've come to the number 392. I'm about 95% confident of that number at this point, but I wanted to see if anyone else has attempted this or if there is, in fact, a commonly available checklist in which this has already been done. There probably is, and I just didn't search long enough to find it. I appreciate any assistance.

A quick count from a couple of sources also gets me 392. Those lists do not distinguish the Camnitz brothers. The "arm-at-side" pose is believed by many to be Howie's younger brother Harry.

my suggestion is when you knock the first 350 subjects out then you can look a lil closer. no need to fine-comb it right now

Thanks for the feedback from everyone. These are encouraging confirmations. I've done it again a seventh time and it came to 392 again, so I'm going to proceed as though I've gotten it right. I need to post some 'Recent Acquisition' pics, too. I've already scored eight cards from the set, and they look great.

The Camnitz debate is interesting. I found that question in a few other places online, as well. It set me off on a lengthy research project to see if there's any weight to it. Any inclusion of Harry in a Pirates uniform would have to be based on 1909, since he played for St. Louis in 1911 (his only other Major League experience). In 1909, Howie had a notable season (25 wins, tied for the league lead in winning percentage), and played on the Series champ (although he got bombed in his only Series appearance). I can see where he'd get multiple cards. Harry, on the other hand, spent the vast majority of the year in McKeesport, and had a great year there (27 wins). He didn't get called up by the Bucs until late September, and only appeared in one game. He didn't appear at all in 1910, and then was on to St. Louis. So for him to appear in the set in anything other than a Minor League uniform would be odd. And to appear in a Pittsburgh uniform would make him the only non-starter for Pittsburgh in the set (near as I can tell). That would also seem odd. I'm gonna officially come down on the side of No Harry, and stick with 392.

I would vote for a "just major leaguers" approach over an every individual approach because otherwise you would miss a lot of great cards such as the different Cobbs. And you'd save money by avoiding all of the pricey southern leaguers.

I considered doing the T206 set, but then I realized it would be cheaper, and less painful to just pay someone on Craig's List to come over and punch me once a week for $20.

Unique Subjects in the T206 set = 392

American League = 126 Subjects
National League = 133 Subjects

Major League Subjects = 259
Minor League Subjects = 86
Southern League Subjects = 48

*Lundgren can be included in the Major and Minor League groups resulting in a total of 393.
