I wish I hadn't sold it

Post by bowlingshoeguy on Fri Feb 25, 2011 3:36 am

I have sold many cards over the years to help fund this addiction. The only card I can say I wish I never sold was this Cad Coles PSA 7. It is the nicest looking card I ever handled. I was afraid to cross it over because of the rep PSA has with high grade card. I finally decided to sell it because my CC debt was a much. I sold the card about 5 years ago and I am pretty sure it's in the same hands so it seems to have went to a good owner.

I no longer have a scan...but my biggest regret was selling a t206 solly hofman w/drum back. It is in poor condition...and has a distinctive black marker spot on one of the back corners. I sold it on ebay maybe 9-10 years ago for $1015. I bought it at a card show in silver spring, md...at the armory back in the early nineties for $30. I'd like it back! I bet someone on this board may have it!!!

I can't say I wish I had held onto any of the many cards I've let go, but I do regret my terrible timing when selling my vintage hockey cards. C56's really took off after I sold my set. And I do kinda miss my T206 Cobb (Bat Off), but it was either the last or second-to-last - dare I say penultimate - card a good buddy needed for his set and I plan on replacing it one of these days. I don't often replace cards, but there's something about Cobb. I had to get a new E95 one shortly after I sold my old one.

Pete I don't own it but it sold twice on Ebay according to VCP. In 2006 for $885 and 2007 for $977.89. VCP only has a scan of the back but here's both sides for you.

I sold my entire collection in 1992. Except the cards that were hidden in books that I forgot about. I don't regret selling. It was the right thing to do at the time but every once in awhile I get pangs of regret when I see some of the cards I used to own, but it doesn't last very long. Right now the thing I am missing the most from old collection was the 50+ different felt pennants I had of the Twins including some very rare 1960 pennants with the original MT logo with gophers.

I'm over it really, font size just to symbolize how stupid I was.

While there are certainly cards I wish I had not sold or wish I had bought, what I really wish is that I had have more focus. i started and finished a low grade t205 set...now on to a 1941 Double Play. I am always going to have a secondary focus on the T206s until i get close enough to finish it...about halfway there now.

Down to my last Victory, Dr. Ullman. The penultimate one is waiting to go on the Mile High auction block. Glad the Cobb still has a good home. It's such a great image that I couldn't be without one.
