2011 Daytona 500
This Daytona 2011 could be the greatest race in NASCAR history. Thrre-wide at over 206 MPH's in practice. Jimmie Johnsons' start to defending his five-time championship. The repaving of Daytona for the first time since 1979. For those NASCAR historians, Cale Yarborough & Donnie Allison literally, punched it out on the backstretch of the final lap in '79. A classic in racing. Hopefully this year will prove to be as suspenseful.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. will have a busy week... He qualified for the pole on the ten year anniversary of his fathers death at the same track (Feb18,'01) only to wreck in practice and move to the rear for the start. I will be putting "Driver #8: The Dale Earnhardt Jr. Story" at the Lending Library for those interested in reading it. Published in 1992, this book covers his rookie seaon in 1991 and the sebsequent death of his father. SO much has changed, the book is a great read for any NASCAR fan.
