Joe Medwick was a tuff individual clearly a match for any other member of the Gas House Gang and a challenge to any player throughout baseball history. He was once removed from a game against his will, for his own safety from the fans. It was not only the fans who were tough on him, reporters, teammates and the opposition were equally members of the opposition to Joe Medwick. Throughout it all, his on field performance most closely approximated that of future Cardinal Musial. But as a just slightly turned down version of Stan the Man. Upon his trade to the Dodgers from the Cards, his old teammates made sure that he understood that there was no long lasting favorable relationship which he could count on:

Medwick 434585Updated to say, he didnt show up with the signature piece, however I did pick up a nice raw 1936 S&S Game card of Medwick. I can't get my scanner to work, so I will show a "borrowed" scan of the same card from ebay. I will credit the image to Mike Wheat Cards. Hope this is ok. If not the Mods can let me know.
