Has anyone else noticed the Old Judge PCL cards always seem to be in great condition with crystal clear pictures?

How many different PCL OJ's are known to exist? I've only seen a handful of scans. Too few to judge whether good photo quality is typical among them.

Nineteen different players constitute the currently check-listed N172 California League subset. Of these nineteen different players, I believe that the majority of them are unique, with only a few players having two examples extant. If you own an example of the Goodwin book you can look at them all. I don't have the book with me now, but I would argue that good contrast and condition are not characteristics shared by all California League N172s. Going from memory, three of the four last California League N172s to sell in public auction within the past few years have been in low grade with mediocre images. One of these was the example that Terry Knouse sold on eBay (it had a faded image and a lot of "gunk" on it), and the other two were part of the Richard Egan sale by Mastro in 2004--both of which were in poor condition.

Edited to add that the only known N175 Gypsy Queen California League player is also in low grade, although that does nothing (as well with the N172s) to diminish their value.
