anyone one here a photoshop expert?

Post by Square_Frame_Ramly on Mon Dec 14, 2009 6:29 pm

I just downloaded the free 30 day version. I basically want to brighten up/sharpen my scans of cards (not cards that i am selling). I have been fooling around with it but i am sure there are certain things i can use that i have not discovered yet.

any advice?

Mark

John (wankaticket) is pretty good with photoshop. Maybe he'll chime in

honestly mark...why would you want to sharpen up your scans? imo that's one big waste of time.

my scans come off a hp scanner...i am having a blurry scan problem even when i try and edit in picasa 3. I plan and hosting all my scans on a image hosting site. Just want them to have a clean look.

Also, my avatar was created by a member after i asked him to incorporate a square frame ramly and a non ramly player. I'd like to make more for future avatars...

Are your scan sharp when first produce them? If not, then major problem is with the scanner. Some scanners only have a focal point right at the glass, thus cards in slabs come out fuzzy looking.

I also believe my scanner is the problem. It works fine so I really don't want to go and buy another, just sucks at scanning cards.

I look at some of the scans that members post on new cards thread and I want my cards to turn out like them.

mark,

if your scans start out blurry, photoshop can't really fix that...or maybe they could that's why they cost a bunch and is a memory hog? when you get good at photo-shopping i'd like to request a trio of t204 lajoie/young/speaker. that would be the bee's knees for me, thanks! beer

I have tried a few of these and they are all easy to use:

PhotoShop is an indispensable tool if you can harness its power.

For simple color and picture enhancements go to; Image > Adjustments

Here is a card with a quick fix that took about a half hour. No color adjustments just repair work, with some so subtle that they are not noticeable but just adds to the overall attractiveness. See what you can find.

About a year ago I downloaded a Library of Congress free pic of Babe Ruth. I spent about 6 hours or so making ridiculously small fixes, some just a single pixel. Once done and printed (8" x 10") it was a jaw dropping high-def looking photo. Did the same to Jackie Robinson but the Babe beats all...and I am by far, a PhotoShop novice.

rebuilt corners, black mark removed, crease in upper right corner removed, looks like you might have made the A in Arbuckle a little bolder. That's just what I see at a quick glance

Bummer you missed "Full count" at the bottom. That was actually not so easy. Much more there though...good job.

two other things I noticed, the mark at about the 4 o'clock position on his suit is gone and the line directly to the right of Arbuckle has been filled in and darkened. Can't believe I missed the Full Count. Should have left a mystery for awhile for someone else to find.
