gas under $2

I saw something today I thought I'd never see again, gas under $2 a gallon. The station next to my work dropped it to $1.99

Here in CT our gas is still $2.30 but priced in to each gallon is a whopping 0.69 cents in taxes per gallon of gas.

Really high gas taxes here in Jersey too. Lowest I've seen is $2.16 for regular.

Eric - now its about $1.75 almost everywhere in NJ.

And with $0.69/gal revenue, you could eliminate auto insurance and fund all of those costs through the State.

Eliminate Auto Insurance - think about it.

around $1.90 a gallon for average in CT......DAMN TAXES!!!!

$1.55 near the place I will be moving to at the end of the year and gas prices just dropped 10 cents today to $1.59 around here.

They say that demand is driving the price down, but the streets around my house are just as crowded as they've ever been. Maybe demand is down in other cities.

I haven't noticed any less traffic either. I'm a strong believer in the oil company conspiracy theory. They've been robbing us blind for a long time. Now that the economy has gone in the tank, they've been told by the powers that be that they need to cut back profits for the good of the economy. As soon as the economy turns around, I'm willing to bet that prices skyrocket again.

Personally, I wish that prices would stay high. It hurts the pocket book, but now we've lost the incentive to produce more fuel efficient and alternative fuel vehicles and improvements to public transit systems.
