Fill in the __________ with a prewar set (or several) and briefly explain why.

Given their scarcity, I am surprised that __________ aren't valued higher than they are.

I have a set or two that I would put in that blank, but I want to see what others think are "undervalued" from a scarcity standpoint.

Given their scarcity, I am surprised that cards from the (T-214 Victory Tobacco set) aren't valued higher than they are.

I know their scarcity alone probably hurts them more than anything, but shouldn't this make them more valuable.
There are many other sets rarer than T214's that hold their value because of the scarcity factor.
Why no love for the Victory's?

I actually think the E103 set is somewhat overvalued. They are tough cards, but tough enough to merit $4-500 for VG commons? I'm not so sure. There was a time when E103's were undervalued, and that was probably 6-7 years ago. I've seen some obscene prices on E103's over the past few years.

T214 Victory's are very scarce, but also quite expensive. I'd probably call them more underappreciated than undervalued. When they come to market they sell for big bucks, no?

Given their scarcity, I am surprised that V89 William Patersons aren't valued higher than they are. They are barely discussed and seldomly show up for sale, but it's a beautiful, scarce set that deserves more attention imo. Tons of neat poses that are unique to the set as well, including several horizontals.

The value of these has definately gone up in the last few years, but given the condition sensitive issue and the lack of them up for sale, I definately think this set is under valued.

I think sometimes the scarcity hurts the value because alot of people are unaware of them because they are rarely offered for sale.

i feel t204s are undervalued...prolly a little too scarce for most collectors to notice/collect. still a "major" known set (not regional or tough type sets w/incomplete checklists) with lots of hof'ers with a unique design.

The dimensions are 1 1/2 X 2 5/8ths, pretty close to the standard T card.

I had never heard of the V89 William Paterson set prior to you bringing it up, Ben. Thank you for doing so. That was exactly the kind of thing I was looking for. Scanning through the checklist, V89 has quite a few (13, in fact) HOFers that aren't covered by my E107/Goudey quest. Hmmm....

Given its scarcity, I am surprised that the T207 set doesn't get more love than it does. SGC shows pop reports of less than 10 for most of the issues. I guess people love purple backgrounds far more than brown.

To a different scarcity question, I am surprised the 1914 and 1915 similar-posed Cracker Jacks are so similarly priced given the card stock differences and the condition scarcity of the '14 set. Obviously, the Matty in '14 is an exception due to the different pose, but why wouldn't the other issues be similarly different in price? I guess the demand is more for the image than the year. This thread was intended to be more about true scarcity than condition scarcity, but I figured I would throw that in for no extra charge.

Love to see the Wm Paterson's getting some love! One of my favorite sets and quite undervalued given their availability IMO...

Here are a few of mine

Stunning cards Chris, that Frisch is That's like a 9 bunny card you got there. Patersons are the coolest - the Mcgraw is my personal favorite, showing him in his manager's suit/hat, knee up in the dugout. Is the Meusel the only horizontal in the set?

From the few cards I've seen of the set, it is definitely among the best for picture selection.

Does the waite Hoyt card actually picture Herb Penock? I ask because the Hoyt name is crossed off and Penock written in.
