Cards with Fat Borders

Post  fisherboy7 on Tue Jun 16, 2009 1:39 pm

Let's see some.

Seems like D359 has alot of fat bordered/miscut cards. What other sets are like this?

Here's my D359 Baker:

Ben...Most pre 1970 issues (including Topps and Bowmans) have a variance in size, at least when they are 'outside the hobby'. For some strange reason, over the last 20 or so years, the oversized , otherwise VG-Ex cards, which were commonly circulating in the hobby during the 70's and 80's have disappeared. Hmmm?! Question

Oaks,
Are you saying they have gone on a diet, cutting corners so to speak.

You certainly don't see many oversized cards anymore. I remember at a Bob Lee show in '88 a guy was looking for oversized cards and any beat up Goudeys. He was pretty open about why he wanted them. He was trimming the oversized cards to sell to Copeland and he wanted the Goudeys so that he had raw material that would blend perfectly with the rebuilt corners he was doing on Goudeys.
