"What do you do"...

Post by Square_Frame_Ramly on Thu Apr 03, 2008 11:37 am

I was just wondering what members do for a living.

Myself, i used to be a tool & die maker for 15 years until i became a full time stay-at-home Dad. bananarama

Yeah, tool & die!
That's something I could get into, except for the measuring part.
I hate measuring almost as much as I hate cutting stuff the wrong size, or drilling it in the wrong place.
So, I don't do that.
I design, install, and maintain analytical instruments in labs and industry.

When I got out of the Navy in 1970, I took a job selling stereo's to Hippies. That evolved into me eventually owning my own major appliance store. Burned out in 1999 and Sold the business. Did Ebay for number of years but now I'm pretty much retired.

When I got out of the Navy in 1964, I took a job selling encyclopedias door-to-door. My mother seeing I was going nowhere enrolled me in college without my knowledge. The rest is history. College, Law School, private law practice past 34 years. And boy am I ready to retire! transform

I work as a bioanalytical chemist for.........a company (won't get into that now).

I develop methods to extract compounds from blood, plasma, and urine so that they can be quantitatively analyzed. I've been with my present employer for 3 years now, and I hope a bit longer, but we'll see.

I've been career building for 7 years since I graduated with a Master's degree in Environmental Science. Never thought I'd be this far away from what I went to school for.

I'm a personal assist to a man with waaaayyyyy too much money. I'm in charge of buying vehicles (Bentley, Ferrari, Rolls Royce really any kind), lunch, flights and making life easy.

Interesting job with some crazy stories and it might be a book some day?

Professional derelict.

Actually, I'm the inventory controller for the largest home improvement chain in the Midwest. Not bad work. It's the first job I've had in my life where I have weekends off and I work from 6am-3pm. It's the only fulltime job with the company that has every weekend off.

I had planned on responding to this thread earlier, but it totally slipped my mind. Oh well, here is goes.

I'm an elementary school teacher. I spent the past year teaching ESL in Seoul, South Korea. Had a great experience, and let me tell you - Korean food is divine! I went to a handful of Korean league baseball games. The crowds were enormous and very loud! Great atmosphere and pretty good baseball too. I took that time in Korea away from the hobby completely, and it allowed me to come back now with renewed interest.

Now that I'm back, I've been working part time at a local school. I also coached their girls basketball team. The girls made it to the semifinal in a recent tournament, where they faced a team with two 14 year olds that I swear had taken HGH Smile. They smoked us but it was a successful season anyway. After that finished I took off for Europe for a month long whirlwind tour. Just returned a week ago actually. I made it to London, Berlin, Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, and Rome. Met all kinds of great people in the hostels and had an absolute blast.

I also have a few side projects on the go, this forum being one of them. So there you have it in a nutshell.

I screw the caps on 8 oz. bottles of virgin olive oil. My second job is a golfer at a professional chefs club. Laughing

I ran away from home and joined the Air Force, after I became a firefighter/paramedic. Got these for being stupid but they weighted me down so I quit.

Was an exec at Guess? Jeans in their prime...that was fun and interesting. Now I work in another high-fashion company which I hate, but it pays the bills.
