Tobacco or caramel: depends on the card
19th century or deadball era: deadball
Ebay, card show, or BST: card shows. Nothing like dealing face to face.
Graded or raw: prefer raw, but need slabs to protect the valuable cards and be able to let friends hold them and see them
Cobb or Wagner:Wagner
E94 or E97:neither, they are both pretty ugly
B&W or Colorized cards:B&W
Heavy creases or paper loss:depends where the damage is.
SGC 10 beater or SGC AUT slight trim (otherwise nrmt):depends ont he damage to the 10
N172 or T206:n172
Rarity or high grade:true rarity
Johnson, Mathewson, or Young (their cards):Johnson
T206 Cobb Bat Off or Green Portrait:neither, they are both ugly
Trading or buying:trading
T206 Wagner or E107 Wagner:e107
1909 Pirates or 1927 Yankees:09 Pirates

Personally, I'd add Live Ball Era (1920-45) to the DBE or 19c question. I'd take the 1920-45 era over DBE even though really like the DBE.

I'd also add: Ruth or Foxx? Hornsby or Gehrig? Grove or Alexander?

Tobacco or caramel: Caramel
19th century or deadball era: Deadball
Ebay, card show, or BST: BST
Graded or raw: raw
Cobb or Wagner: Cobb
E94 or E97: E94
B&W or Colorized cards: color
Heavy creases or paper loss: paperloss
SGC 10 beater or SGC AUT slight trim (otherwise nrmt): SGC AUT
N172 or T206: n172
Rarity or high grade: Rarity
Johnson, Mathewson, or Young (their cards): Young (only because there are so few nice johnson e's)
T206 Cobb Bat Off or Green Portrait: Bat off
Trading or buying: buying
T206 Wagner or E107 Wagner: t206 wagner (love the e107 but it's freakin' t206 wagner!)
1909 Pirates or 1927 Yankees: Pirates (...or 2008 Dodgers!)

We can spawn further debates from these...like what if it's an sgcA t206 Wagner or a nice sgc40 e107? I would pick all the E Cobbs but the T Wagners would win out if given the choice (not even counting the t206). Johnson/Matty/Young was tough.

Seriously? Never heard anyone say they thought the bat off was ugly. Ditto on the green portrait for that matter. Shocked

Just speaking from my collecting style. I am into the aestetics of card rather than what set it's from.

As for Cobb, outside of the e95 and t222, I find most of his cards ugly, or mundane at best. If you think about it, if the name Cobb was not attached to those cards, most people would not be talking about how great they look.

Methinks Jay should start a new thread. I'm sure you could come up with endless options!

I just listed those because the slant was so heavy on DBE and 19c. The Live Ball Era needed some representation too
