Whoever was portrayed in that statue must have died in battle.

Andrew Jackson defeated the British in the Battle of New Orleans during the War of 1812. I've heard of statue protocol that would indicate what you're saying though. That may only apply to civil war generals.

The statue protocol was established long before the Civil War over in Europe.
